Cabine 2.0: every strip is free
We took the coin out of the booth. Make as many black-and-white strips as you like, and keep the ones you love.
When we first built Cabine, we leaned hard into the idea of a real photo booth. You feed it a coin, it hands you a strip. So the app worked the same way: your first strip was on us, and after that each finished strip cost a small coin, the way the machine on the corner charges per go.
It was a nice bit of theatre. It was also, if we are honest, a small speed bump in a moment that should feel effortless. You would crowd four friends into frame, count them down, nail the fourth pose — and then land on a coin. The charm of a booth is that it is generous with the fun. Ours was charging admission at the worst possible second.
So we stopped. From version 2.0, out now on the App Store, every strip in Cabine is free. Pose, shoot, retake until it is right, develop, save, print — as many times as you like, for nothing.
Free, and unlimited
There is no counting now, and nothing to top up. Take a strip for every guest at a party. Retake the one where someone blinked. Make ten in a row until you get the pose right. None of it costs anything, and there is no subscription humming in the background either.
The booth itself hasn't changed
Everything that made Cabine feel like a booth is exactly where you left it. Four frames, three seconds apart, with a countdown and the sounds to match — or bring four photos you already have. They develop into a single strip in real black and white, a proper monochrome conversion rather than a grey filter dropped over colour. Strips land in a private library on your phone, and you can share them anywhere or print one over AirPrint. As ever, all of it happens on the device; nothing is uploaded, and we never see a strip you make.
How Cabine stays free
A free app still has to earn its keep, and we would rather be plain about how. Between strips you will occasionally see a small card pointing you at our other apps. If you would rather have none of that, a one-time Remove Ads purchase turns them off for good. It also removes the little Cabine wordmark and date printed in the strip's footer, in case you want a cleaner keepsake. One payment, no subscription, and it restores on your other devices.

Then there is nothing to do but update. Your library is untouched, and the coin you used to spend is simply gone. Open the app and make the next one on the house.
