Introducing Flyback, your whole day in one number
The steps your iPhone already counts, on a screen you'll actually open.
Your iPhone has been counting your steps this whole time. Every walk to the station, every lap of the supermarket, every flight of stairs lands in Apple Health, three taps deep, in a chart you rarely open.
Flyback is the front door to that number. It's a step counter for iPhone and Apple Watch, and it's on the App Store today, free.
One number, front and centre
Open Flyback and today's steps fill the screen, wrapped in a ring that closes as you move. Distance, floors, exercise minutes and calories sit underneath, straight from Apple Health. There's nothing to log and no timer to start. Your history is in place the first time you launch it.
A week you can read
Every bar in your week is coded to your goal, so a strong week looks strong before you've read a number. A dashed goal line crosses the chart, with your daily average, your best day, and how you're tracking against last week just above it.
A streak you earn
Most apps hand you a streak for opening them. Flyback counts only the days you actually hit your goal. Miss one and you're not sunk: spend a repair token to bring it back, and the grid shows exactly which days you missed and which you repaired.
A goal that keeps pace
Set a flat 10,000 and forget it, or switch on adaptive goals and let the target rise on strong weeks and ease off on quiet ones. Steps, distance, exercise minutes, floors and calories can each carry their own weekly target.
Badges, records and live walks
There are 18 badges to earn from bronze to gold, plus a fresh challenge every month. Every personal best, from your best day to your fastest pace, is kept and dated, ready to be beaten. And when you want to track a walk on purpose, one tap gives you live distance, pace, cadence and calories on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. It runs on your iPhone's motion chip rather than GPS, so it won't drain your battery or ask for your location.
Private by default
Flyback reads your Health data on your device and never sends it anywhere. No account, no sign-up, no ads, nothing sold. It reads your steps, distance, floors and active energy, and only ever reads. It never writes back to Apple Health.
Free, with an optional Premium
Counting your steps is free forever. Flyback Premium is for people who want the long view: month, year and all-time trends, the calendar heatmap of your streaks, personal records, adaptive goals, and three streak repairs a month instead of one. It's $3.99 a month or $29.99 a year, with a 7-day free trial on the yearly plan.
Flyback needs iPhone on iOS 18 or later. The app page has the full tour, and you can grab it on the App Store below.
